Testing the New DxO ONE 20.2 MP Digital Camera For iPhone and iPad at The California Science Center-San Francisco
I ran across the DxO ONE 20.2 MP Digital Camera…
I’ve driven past the Benbow Inn too many times to count. It’s located in Northern California’s Garberville. My mom had been telling me for years to stop there and eat next time I pass it. For some reason this place just never appealed to me until last weekend-I just did it. Parked the car, got out and to my surprise it was just lovely! The staff was very friendly upon entry and seated us for Brunch right away. It was official I had been charmed by the Benbow! This Tudor designed Inn is in a lovely setting-right off the 101 freeway (200 miles above San Francisco). It opened it’s doors in 1926 and soon became a popular stop for motorist traveling up the newly paved 101. This Inn is part of the Historic Hotels of America–National trust for Historic Preservation meaning that it has to be at least 50 years old and recognized as a Local and National Historic Landmark.
We passed by a lovely little garden on the walk up. I believe this patio is where people get seated for overflow. People were sitting and enjoying it when we arrived. And here is the view looking back from the entrance. We were greeted by a server and quickly seated for brunch on the back terrace–oh those Redwoods! If you are into quaint, historical, and homey Inn’s then this is the place for you! The interior had that musky scent of an antique store. I did not see an elevator for the handicapped but I did notice a sign out front that said they were making renovations to better suit the handicapped–I am not sure when they will be done but it says they offer assistance to the disabled.
The outdoor eating area was picturesque and the weather couldn’t have been better. The staff was friendly and efficient–the best combo!!
I thought the menu had enough options. I chose the Vegetarian Eggs Benedict.
And to my surprise out came this beautiful looking food! –and it tasted even better then it looked! Everything was super fresh including the just squeezed orange juice. Delicious! Below is the Vegetarian Eggs Benedict $16 and the French Toast with Marscapone and Raspberries $14. I had the Eggs Benedict–the eggs were poached to perfection! The food was so on point that I was already planning in my mind what to try when I came back!
The view of the Eel River was so peaceful and tranquil–while the soft ambiance of Big Band music played in the background–one of my favorite musical era’s! loved it! You can see a couple of the private patios to the rooms below.
My Quick Take: The Benbow Inn was such a wonderful surprise! I can’t believe how many times I have driven by it and never gave it a second thought–if that is you–stop and go in! You will not regret it! I love visiting any kind of Historical sights and finding out that Clark Gable visited here made my day!
