The Louis Vuitton Twice AKA Twinset Crossbody Review with Cheaper Alternatives!
Hi Everyone! I recently purchased a new crossbody bag and…
I have wanted a Classic Chanel Handbag since I could remember but with their high price tags it was always something I just browsed. Until 2013, I decided that I was going to finally do it–purchase the Medium Flap from the classic line. At that time, that bag had the hefty price tag of $4,500. I eventually talked myself out of it. I couldn’t help but keep thinking “How can I pay that much for the same exact thing that was half the price just 3 years ago!” so I started browsing the spring line instead. I went to each Chanel location in San Francisco searching for something similar to the classic line of handbags in their caviar leather. Caviar is the grainy leather, they also offer lambskin. The lambskin is beatiful but scratches easy and I needed durability. After a couple trips down to the boutiques I stumbled upon the beautiful “Easy Flap” bag from the 2013 Spring collection and fell in love! It had everything I wanted, classis lines, caviar leather, enough room to store all my essentials and it looks just like the Medium Classic Flap minus $1,500–Mission Accomplished! Even if I was offered the Medium Classic Flap for the same price as the Easy, I would choose the Easy! That says a lot!! Here is why:
It’s the Medium Classic Flap’s Twin: Seriously, here is the Medium Classic Flap (10 x 6.3 x 3) Below…
And the Easy below (12.5 x 6.5 x 2)..so similar it’s crazy!
The Strap: It has a leather piece in the top of the strap to keep nice and comfy on your shoulder–no metal chain digging into your shoulder when you are wearing a tank top. I didn’t think I would like it at first but now I can’t live without it.
The Size: Since this bag doesn’t have the double flap interior, you can fit much wider things within it! I can fit my Louis Vuitton Josephine Wallet (now offered in Rose Gold-dang it! ha) Sunglasses, Keys, and Makeup bag and still have a ton of room!
There’s also a slot for extra storage in the bag–I use it for my phone and keys.
The Zipper: I love the added security of the zipper! The Classic Flap bags don’t offer zippers, I didn’t think I would like this at first but it is so nice to zip it up and not worry about my things plopping out in the car.
And the cute button detail on the side.
The Weight: This is hands down the best part of the Easy compared to the Classic Flap–due to not having that double flap. It is seriously so so light! Love that! Who wants to carry around extra weight–not me! No matter how gorgeous a bag is, if it’s gonna wreck my neck by the end of the day it’s just not worth it. Beauty is pain? Heck no! Beauty and Fashion should make you feel Fabulous and not cause you to have to ice your neck at the end of the day.
The Strap Options: I’m 5’10 120lbs and it easily can go over my shoulder to wear cross-body! This was crucial for me!-haha. I wear it crossbody all the time–I’m a handsfree kind of a girl! I also love wearing this with just one strap up in the evenings or both straps up to just grab go. So many options in one bag!
It’s Durability: I love that Chanel decided to make this in Caviar Leather–a lot of the Caviar leather just gets used for the classic line–huge plus! It does need to be stuffed when you aren’t using it to keep it’s shape–I always forget and it’s shape has held up just fine.
The Price: The prices at Chanel continue to climb. I purchased mine for $3,000 pre-tax in 2013 and now they are $3,400 pre-tax. Since their release the Easy has grown hugely in popularity and they now offer it in a array of colors. I have seen that it is being sold online “pre-loved.” I will paste some options below–the only thing is that they sell incredibly fast. If you are thinking about purchasing a Chanel Handbag now is the time to do it and if you have had your eye on a Classic Flap like me for years–I have to recommend the “Easy Flap” instead. You will not be sorry! Be aware that the price increases are not going to stop…it’s not a question of “will” but “when.”
Tradesy has this one in stock–loving that color!!
This one has some obvious wear on it from Tradesy but the Merlot color is so great for fall and it’s listed under $3,000!
Tradesy just got this black one in below.
Keep an eye out on therealreal.com they just sold this one for $2,700!!
Along with Yoogiscloset.com–they had a ton in black that recently sold but you can have them notify you when the one you want is back in stock. I’ve heard really good things about Yoogi’s Closet.
Lastly I scoured Ebay for you guys and here is what I found:
This cream colored one is gorgeous and it’s listed as brand new.
The one below is on Ebay also but “pre-loved.”
I found this one below on Ebay today.
Along with this one.
I hope that helps you guys out! If you are looking to buy brand new click here to locate your closest chanel store. I don’t see the Easy Flap currently on the Chanel website--if your local store doesn’t have one you can always call any other Chanel store and have them ship it to you!
Quick Tip: The SA at Chanel recommended Cadillac Leather Conditioner to me and even told me to just get it off Amazon-Click the photo to go to it. I love that it doesn’t leave residue and doesn’t put a shine on my handbags. I definitely recommend it! Be sure to use a cloth that won’t leave fuzz when wiping it-I’m still trying to get all the fuzz off of mine-haha.
If you enjoyed this review please feel free to share it! If you have questions about the easy leave it in the comments. Happy Shopping!!
