St. Tropez | In Shower Gradual Tan Lotion–Does it Work?

Tanning in the shower? In 3 minutes? Impossible! I have to admit I was highly skeptical about this new tanning lotion. No way can you put tanning lotion on wet skin, rinse it off after 3 minutes and expect to get any results!

Well, I’m so happy to report I was so wrong! This has revolutionized the self-tanning world. I got a light glow only after using it one time. After 3 days in a row I had almost achieved the look of a regular self-tanner.

The only downside is that 3 minute wait time in the shower. It can get pretty cold and it’s mid July! I don’t know if this is going to be very Winter friendly. We will see! I will say it sure beats waiting around for hours using regular self tanner or sleeping in it (which I can never do!).

The texture is a very soft cream that foams slightly after you start rubbing in. The smell is not bad to me, It smell like a light perfume but I would have opted for a coconut scent or even vanilla. I can’t quite put my finger on describing the scent.  It does have a subtle hint of the DHA while applying but nothing that lingers.

The first ingredient is Sweet Almond Oil which is very hydrating but can also be troublesome for problem skin. If you have problem skin I don’t recommend you put this on your face. You can basically just replace this with your normal body wash and achieve a healthy glow with the nourishment of sweet almond oil all at once. It’s a win win!!

I have read some reviews where people are saying that it is not working for them. If this is you, then it might be that you are either not leaving it on your skin for the full 3 minutes, rinsing it off for to long after application or that you are wiping dry intend of patting dry.

Tip, just like normal self-tanner make sure to exfoliate your skin really well first. I made this mistake (probably do to my skepticism…why exfoliate?…there’s no way I’m gonna get a tan from this!). When I stopped using it for a couple of days I noticed that I started to get a little blotchy on my arms. I exfoliated and reapplied and have had a even fade now.

I bought this from QVC.com. You can still purchase 2 tubes for $39.96. If you don’t want to buy 2 at once you can buy one tube for $25 from Sephora.

My Quick Take: This is a game changer for Self-Tanners. It does everything that it claims. It’s $25 a tube but I see this lasting for quite some time and that is a lot cheaper then the average Self-Tanning bottle.

Have you tried the In-shower tanner? Let me know in the comments your tips and tricks!

Happy Safe Tanning!
